Songs that I wrote as a kid roaming around New England.
Written in 1973 in Portland Maine, living on Munjoy Hill with Comrade Sam, Chairman and sole member of the Maine, Communist Party, the friend of some hippies I’d befriended. He got me my job as a kettle scrubber at the B&M Baked Beans plant. Every night the Portland cops would stop me in my 1966 Chevy Nova, shine lights on my face and check my license and registration, keeping the local reds in their place. I was only interested in songs, not revolution.
WHEN THE RAIN FIRST CAME TO EARTH
My best friend’s mother died of cancer when I was 15 and I wrote this song by Crystal Lake in Newton Center, Massachusetts. She was a beautiful and vivacious woman named Blanche.
